Welcome to deepcreek.town, a home online for everyone who lives around Deep Creek Lake, works here, or keeps coming back.
deepcreek.town is built on Xenia, a platform from Yo-Do Software. Xenia was the ancient Greek bond between guest and host: a promise to trade stories and goods, to look after the stranger at your door and be looked after in turn. Its symbol was the crossroads, which is where our "X" comes from. That's the idea here: one local crossroads where the whole community meets.
What deepcreek.town Does for Locals
The big search and review sites treat Garrett County as inventory. Your favorite diner, the contractor your neighbor swears by, and the Thursday music night in Friendsville end up scattered across a dozen apps, if they show up at all.
deepcreek.town brings it together in one place, so you spend less time searching and more time out on the water, up on the mountain or downtown. Ask Xen, our local search, for a contractor, a cleaning service, a lawyer or a quiet place for dinner, and the answers come from here, not from everywhere.
Everything below is free for residents and businesses:
- A web page for every business in the Deep Creek area, part of more than 1,200 local places, from marinas to trailheads
- A community calendar of what's happening around the lake and in Oakland, McHenry, Friendsville and beyond
- Hyper-local search, focused on Garrett County
- A voice in how deepcreek.town grows and changes
What It Does for Visitors and Businesses
Deep Creek runs on four seasons of visitors: boats and docks in summer, Autumn Glory in the fall, Wisp in the winter. They're the reason the area has as many restaurants, outfitters, shops and rentals as it does. But the off-season is long, and many of the people who keep those businesses going are the ones who live here year-round.
deepcreek.town is built to help with both. For visitors, it makes a trip easier to plan and easier to enjoy: find a kayak rental the day you arrive, a trailhead with parking, a public restroom, or something to do when it rains. For businesses, it's a free listing that locals and visitors actually see, and a way to reach neighbors in the quiet months, not just on the busiest weekend in October.
Getting Started
- Create a free account with Google, Apple or your email. Choose "I live here" for the Resident view, or "I'm visiting" for the Guest view, and you'll get the home page that fits you, plus Xen.
- Ask Xen. Tap the X at the bottom of any page and ask where to get coffee, which trail suits your group, or what's happening this weekend.
- Own a business? If your free listing needs an update (hours, photos, a new phone number), contact Yo-Do Software and we'll fix it.
- Have an event? Send it our way so it lands on the community calendar.
This is just the start. We're glad you're here, and we'd love to hear what would make deepcreek.town more useful to you.
