About
Allegany Hearing & Balance Center is a locally owned, independent audiology practice with an office at 265 Glass Drive, Suite A in Oakland. Founded in 2003 to serve the Cumberland and Oakland area, it gives Garrett County residents a place close to home for hearing tests, hearing aids, tinnitus care and balance testing, for children as well as adults.
Hearing and Balance Services
The practice's audiologists hold the Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree, led by owner Dr. Chrissy Lemley. The services it lists include:
- Hearing tests and hearing aid fittings
- Hearing aid repairs
- Tinnitus treatment
- Balance testing and treatment
- Pediatric hearing care
- Cochlear implant overview and hearing protection
- Cognivue cognitive screening and captioned phones
On the product side, the practice works with hearing aid lines including AGX and Oticon. It lists itself as Audigy Certified and as a Center of Specialty Care with the American Institute of Balance, which is worth knowing if dizziness or balance problems are part of what you want checked, since that testing is done in the same practice as your hearing care.
Two Offices in Western Maryland
The Oakland office moved to its current Glass Drive location on June 1, and the practice also runs a second office on National Highway in LaVale. Being an independent practice rather than a chain, it says it donates 10% of its profits to local and regional charities.
If you are new to the practice, calling ahead is the easiest way to set up a hearing test and ask what to bring to your first visit.
