Betsy Spiker Holcomb, Taylor-Made Deep Creek Real Estate

Betsy Spiker Holcomb is a co-owner and associate broker of Taylor-Made Deep Creek Real Estate, working from the company's office at 35 Towne Centre Way in McHenry. She calls herself a Deep Creek Lake specialist, and her site covers lakefront homes, lake access homes, land and condos around the lake. She works with first-time buyers, second-home shoppers and sellers alike.

Eleven Generations in Garrett County

Betsy describes herself as the eleventh generation of her family to live in the Deep Creek Lake area, with family in Garrett County for more than 150 years. She learned the trade from her mother, who was broker and owner of a local real estate firm, and from her father, who worked in construction. She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and serves on the Garrett County Hospital Foundation Board and on her local Association of REALTORS board.

What She Helps With

Her site lists the kinds of moves she handles:

• Lakefront retreats and lake access homes
• Ski-in/ski-out condos near Wisp Resort
• First homes, primary residences and second homes
• Preparing listings for sale and negotiating offers
• Moving logistics such as caretaker recommendations and furniture delivery

That last point is useful if you are buying a vacation home from out of the area and need people on the ground once you close.

More From Betsy's Blog

Betsy's Blog on the same site features individual properties and notes on Deep Creek Lake real estate, and an area guide describes lake communities such as Cedarbrook on the southern end of the lake. Reading through it is an easy way to learn the neighbourhood names before you start touring.
