Brenda's Pizzeria

Brenda's Pizzeria is a New York-style pizzeria on the shore of Deep Creek Lake at 21311 Garrett Hwy, Oakland, in the Traders Landing building. It's a family-friendly spot for hand-tossed pies, pasta and heroes with a lakefront view, and you can arrive by boat as well as by car.

From the Bronx to Deep Creek Lake

Owner Brenda McDonnell's Deep Creek story began in 1988, after a long drive from her home in the Bronx. Finding few pizza options in the area, she and a friend opened Dominick's Pizzeria in McHenry, where she spent about eight years learning the craft, then managed Pizzazz Pizzeria at Wisp from 1995. Brenda's Pizzeria opened at Traders Landing in June 2001; the original building came down after Labor Day weekend in 2003 and the new one opened in May 2004, with Traders Coffee House on the ground floor.

What's on the Menu

The pizza list covers traditional red sauce (Neapolitan) and white pies, a gluten-free pizza and specialties such as The Firecracker, The Ulti-Meat, Sei Cosi, Chicken Bacon Ranch and Pizza Margherita. For a big group there's The Abbondanza, a 26-inch pie for dine-in only. Beyond pizza you'll find:

• Starters like Maryland Garlic Shrimp and Sausage Smackers
• Salads, heroes such as the Bronx Belly Buster, calzones and stromboli
• Entrées including baked ziti, lasagna and shrimp scampi
• A kids' menu and desserts such as tiramisu, cannoli and New York-style cheesecake

Take 'n Bake and Cater-Out

Take 'n Bake pizzas are made to order on an oven-ready tray and shrink-wrapped, so you can bake them fresh in your rental's oven; baking instructions come with each one. The Cater-Out menu offers half and full pans of entrées like lasagna, baked ziti and chicken parmigiana, plus salads, appetizers and desserts, with vegan cheese and gluten-free pasta for some dishes. Most catering orders need 24 hours' notice through the online form or by phone.

You can eat in, take out or order online, which makes Brenda's an easy dinner plan on a lake day.
