Brewery and the Beast Social House

Brewery and the Beast Social House is the downtown Oakland location of Brewery and the Beast, the locally owned brewpub based on Main Street in Accident. You'll find it on 215C E Alder St, pouring beer brewed by the company alongside a full bar and a scratch kitchen, and it's set up for casual meals, get-togethers and private parties.

From Food Truck to Two Brewpubs

Owner Craig Frazee started the business more than a decade ago as a food truck, grew it into the Brewery and the Beast brewpub in Accident, and then opened the Social House on Alder Street as a second location. Garrett County Business Development and the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce marked the opening with a ribbon cutting in downtown Oakland.

Beer, Bar and Kitchen

The brewery rotates its taps across lagers, IPAs, stouts and seasonal specialties, and the bar also offers wine, cocktails, mocktails, non-alcoholic beer and gluten-free or low-gluten beer. The kitchen works with Garrett County farms such as Firefly Farms, Stone Ridge Farms, Mighty Yough Farms and Honey Moon Farm, so the menu shifts with what partners have available. Menu staples include:

• Pretzel bites with beer cheese, crab hushpuppies and lumpia (a Filipino pork spring roll)
• Fry platters such as truffle Parmesan fries and Hog Fries with pulled pork and beer cheese
• Smoked pulled pork and pit beef sandwiches, a smashburger, salads and house-made desserts

Parties and Catering

The Social House doubles as event space for showers, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and corporate gatherings, and the team caters on-site and off-site with menus built with you. The brewery also runs community nights such as trivia, open mic, bingo and comedy, announced on its social pages.
