Builders FirstSource

Builders FirstSource runs the Oakland MD Lumber Yard at 92 Service Center Dr, off Garrett Highway in Oakland. The yard was long known locally as O.C. Cluss Lumber, and it supplies builders, contractors and remodelers — and walk-in customers — with lumber, components, doors, windows and millwork for homes across Garrett County and neighboring West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

From Beachy to Cluss to Builders FirstSource

Lumber has been sold from this business for generations. Fred E. Beachy Lumber Co. operated in Oakland for more than 50 years before Uniontown-based Cluss Lumber acquired it in 2001. O.C. Cluss, founded in 1918, ran the Oakland yard as one of its four locations, along with a door shop in Maryland, until Builders FirstSource acquired the company in early 2025. Builders FirstSource, headquartered in Irving, Texas, is one of the country's largest suppliers of building materials and prefabricated components for residential construction. If you see O.C. Cluss signage or an occluss.com address, it is the same yard.
