About
Carefree Boat Club of Deep Creek Lake is a membership boat club based at Deep Creek Marina, 1077 Deep Creek Dr in McHenry. Instead of buying a boat, members reserve one from the club's fleet and find it ready at the dock, which suits people who want regular time on Deep Creek Lake without the upkeep of ownership.
The Fleet
The Deep Creek fleet runs from 19 to 25 feet and mixes bowriders, pontoons and a wake boat. Recent boats include Bayliner VR5 and VR6 bowriders, Regal LX4 and 21 OBX models, a Centurion S220 for wake surfing, Barletta, Crest and Harris pontoons, and a Tahoe Cascade Entertainer double-decker pontoon that carries up to 13 people. That range means you can pick a pontoon for a slow family cruise one day and a wake boat for surfing the next.
How Membership Works
Members book online through the club's reservation system up to six months ahead and can hold up to four reservations at a time; same-day outings can be arranged by calling the dockmaster. The club handles cleaning, maintenance, repairs, trailering, winterization and insurance, and the only cost on top of membership is the fuel you use. Training is included: new members get a training manual, a NASBLA-certified boating safety course and one-on-one instruction on the water covering club procedures, navigation, docking and safety. Membership also gives reciprocal access to other Carefree Boat Club locations across North America.
The club is run by Deep Creek Boat Club, an independently owned licensee of Carefree Boat Club Network.
If you're weighing a membership, the club offers tours of the marina and fleet so you can see the boats before you join.
