Casselman Café at Garrett College

Casselman Café at Garrett College is the campus café in the Student Center at Garrett College, 687 Mosser Rd in McHenry, across from the Learning Resources Center. It's run by the Casselman, the Grantsville inn, restaurant and bakery business, and is open to students, faculty, staff and community members.

A Renovated Campus Kitchen

Garrett College completely renovated its kitchen and café over the summer of 2024, replacing a facility that was more than 40 years old, and switched its food service to Casselman at the same time. The café opened for service on Labor Day 2024, and from that September it opened beyond meal-plan students to faculty, staff and the wider community. The college names Aaron Lapp of Casselman Market as the café's general manager.

What's on Offer

The café serves snacks and a full breakfast, lunch and dinner menu while classes are in session, with wraps, sandwiches, a salad bar, coffee, fresh baked goods and daily specials. The Casselman describes its approach as fresh, simple food made from scratch, drawing on the owners' Pennsylvania Dutch and Amish cooking background that also shapes the restaurant and basement bakery at the historic Casselman inn in Grantsville. You can order online through the café's website, and students can pay with Laker Dollars meal plans as well as cash.

Catering

For on-campus catering, Garrett College directs you to the Casselman at cafe@thecasselman.com, so you can plan food for a meeting, class event or gathering at the college.

If you're visiting campus or meeting a student for lunch, the café is an easy place to sit down near the Learning Resources Center.
