Cornerstone Construction

Cornerstone Construction is a family-owned builder and remodeler working in and around Deep Creek Lake, based in McHenry. Brothers Mark and Jon Hinebaugh run the company, which takes on new custom homes, remodels and additions, decks and patios, and outdoor spaces for homeowners across Garrett County.

Brothers Who Grew Up Working the Lake

The Hinebaugh brothers' construction history around Deep Creek goes back to childhood. Their father, a teacher raising six children, took odd jobs around the lake and brought the boys along: painting condominiums in Red Run, shingling roofs on Rock Lodge, remodeling chalets on Lake Shore, and mowing and raking around the lake. Mark took carpentry in high school, went to work for Legacy Home Corp. after graduation, and spent 28 years there, rising to project manager on homes that ranged from 10-plus-bedroom houses to custom chalets and modest single-family homes. Jon built through college, ran a small building company for about ten years, then moved into public education while keeping up part-time building and remodeling. When Mark's longtime employer closed, the two started Cornerstone together, bringing more than 60 years of combined experience to the business.
