Deep Creek Pharmacy

Deep Creek Pharmacy is an independent, locally owned pharmacy in McHenry Plaza at 24465 Garrett Highway in McHenry. It has filled prescriptions for lake-area residents and visitors since July 1986, and it is a handy stop if you need a refill, a delivery or a few health essentials while you're near Deep Creek Lake.

A Family-Run Lake Pharmacy

Owner Gerard "Jerry" Herpel, P.D., came to know Garrett County on childhood visits, then moved from Baltimore to McHenry in the 1980s to offer a pharmacy service the lake area didn't have at the time. Today Jerry works alongside his son Ed and long-time staff members, and the pharmacy describes itself as part of the EPIC network of independent pharmacies. The focus is on personal, one-on-one service, which helps when you have questions about how and when to take a new medication.

• Prescription delivery: prescriptions and other pharmacy items can be delivered the same day on weekdays if you call earlier in the day.
• Medication management: medications can be bubble-packed in a 7-day planner or in monthly packaging, which makes it easier to keep track of daily doses.
• Online refills: a refill request form on the pharmacy's website goes straight to the pharmacist.
• Health care products: cough and cold remedies, sunscreen and aloe, braces and other everyday essentials.
