About
Demaree Inflatable Boats is a Friendsville manufacturer of industrial-grade inflatable boats, working from its shop at 410 Oak Street. Founded in 1982, the company builds custom workboats, rescue craft, commercial whitewater boats, military boats and pontoons for outfitters, rescue teams and other professional buyers.
What the Company Builds
The current product line covers several families of boats, and every model can be changed to a customer's own specifications:
- Work boats such as the 14' and 17' Mini Snout, the 22' Ship To Shore, the 23' Snout Rig and the 32' River Freighter
- Rescue boats, including a Mini Snout rescue sled, a Rapid Response Boat and the Chesapeake Model
- Whitewater boats such as the Yough Boat, the Section Four Boat and a personal paddle boat
- Sponson fabrication, parts and accessories, and related products such as deep-sea lifting bags
How the Boats Are Made
The company says its materials meet U.S. military specifications and are chemically matched so the parts bond into one piece. After assembly, each boat is vulcanized in the shop's dry-heat autoclave. Customers can ask for changes such as a shorter hull, larger tubes or extra D-rings.
The People Behind It
Dave and Mimi Demaree lead the company. Dave is president, head boat designer and head salesman, and he works with a staff of boat builders and technicians in Friendsville.
