About
Double G RV Park is a family-run RV park on 76 Double G Dr in McHenry, about half a mile from the north end of Deep Creek Lake. It offers full-hookup sites for overnight, weekly and seasonal stays, along with boat and RV storage, and is a good fit for RVers who want a settled base near the lake, the Garrett County Fairgrounds and Garrett College.
A Farm Family's Campground
Double G grew out of the Glotfelty family farm. Gerald and Helen Glotfelty ran a dairy farm with pony rides and trail rides, and the square dances they hosted brought campers who parked nearby, which is how the campground began. In the 1980s their sons Denny and Warren took over and added boat and RV storage, and in the 1990s they built full-hookup sites for park models and renamed the business Double G RV Park. Today Warren and his wife Addie run the park, with their son Gesse helping on the farm, which also grows sunflower fields.
Sites and Amenities
The park is open for RV camping from May 1 through October 31. Overnight and weekly sites include:
- Full hookups with water, sewer, cable and basic WiFi
- 30/50 amp electric
- A gravel pad, fire ring and picnic table at each site
Seasonal sites add on-site winter RV storage (indoor storage available) and an outdoor summer spot for a boat or trailer. Around the park you'll find a bathhouse, laundry, a camp store with ice, firewood and RV supplies, a playground, a pavilion, LP gas and a dump station. Pets are welcome.
Before You Go
Double G is for family RV camping only; tents, golf carts, ATVs, UTVs, fireworks and weapons are not permitted, and guests under 21 need a parent or guardian. Reservations are made online through Campspot, and small RV groups can ask about booking together. The park also sells park models and campers, and park models placed at Double G must be purchased through the park.
