Double M Recycling

Double M Recycling is a family-owned scrap metal recycling center at 406 Swanton Road in Swanton, just off Maryland Route 495. Since 2012 the Miller family has bought scrap metal, car parts and whole vehicles from residents, contractors and businesses across Garrett County and nearby parts of Allegany County, MD and Preston and Mineral counties, WV.

What the Yard Takes

The yard accepts ferrous and non-ferrous metals and pays cash on the spot. Published materials include:

• Metals: aluminum (including cans), brass, bronze, copper, iron, lead, nickel, sheet metal, steel and wire scrap, including Christmas lights
• Auto salvage: alternators, auto batteries, catalytic converters, gas motor blocks, radiators, starters, transmissions, wheel rims and whole vehicles
• Household and building items: appliances, air conditioners, boilers, aluminum siding, downspouts and gutters, and kettles

It does not take fluids, gas cylinders, glass, plastic, TVs, heavily contaminated items, or refrigerators and AC units that still contain Freon. Prepared steel has size limits, so check the list before you load up. If you are unsure about a material, you can bring a sample to the yard and staff will look at it.

Pickups and Roll-Offs

Double M picks up junk cars anywhere in Garrett County, running or not; tell them the location, make and model. For cleanouts, renovations and industrial scrap it rents 20 to 30 cubic yard roll-off containers and handles setup, removal and disposal.

A Family-Run Yard

Owner Johnny Miller runs the business with his sons Jesley and John Andrew. The yard is drive-in/drive-out, kept clear of debris, and its scales are certified every year.
