Dutch's at Silver Tree

Dutch's at Silver Tree is a lakefront steak-and-seafood restaurant at 567 Glendale Rd, Oakland, MD 21550, right on Deep Creek Lake. It serves Maryland crab dishes, hand-cut steaks and surf-and-turf plates in rustic, lodge-style dining rooms, with outdoor seating and boat slips for anyone arriving by water.

Crab, Steaks and House Specialties

Crab runs all through the dinner menu: cream of crab and Maryland crab soups, crab dip and baked crab bread to start, then lump crab cakes, crab imperial, crab sauté and broiled or fried seafood platters. The beef side includes filet mignon, New York strip, boneless rib eye and Oscar-style dishes topped with crab imperial, and you can pair a steak or lobster tail with a crab cake. House specialties include a blackened, honey-glazed Atlantic salmon, Dutch's Dynamite Shrimp and Dutch's Chicken. The menu notes that all steaks are gluten-free, not counting the sauces. There's a lighter lunch menu and a children's menu too.

Inside, Outside and On the Water

The main level has several dining rooms, each with its own character, and one is anchored by a large stone fireplace. Lake-facing seating looks out over the water and the mountains beyond. Outside there's a covered patio for dining rain or shine, a deck for more casual meals and, in summer, lunch and dinner on the lawn. The restaurant has around 20 boat slips, so it works as a stop while you're touring the lake by boat. The Harbor Bar serves drinks, appetizers and the full menu.

Events and Carryout

Dutch's hosts business dinners, receptions, wedding receptions and other private events, buffet-style or seated, with event coordinators who help plan from start to finish. You can order online for pickup, and the restaurant offers carryout family meals and holiday menus. Its sister restaurant is Dutch's Daughter in Frederick.

Reservations are taken by phone, so call ahead if you'd like a lake-facing table.
