About
Edelweiss Estates is a family-run pet care property in Frostburg, Maryland, offering dog boarding, cat care, off-leash recall training and pet transportation. Owner Erika Payne runs it on a privately owned property of more than 70 acres, and the family lives on site. The property's own site places it near several Maryland state parks, Wisp Resort, Deep Creek Lake and the bike trail.
Boarding With Room to Roam
Each boarded dog gets its own run, called its "Resting Home Space", with a loft bed or a bed you bring and any comfort items from home. You can bring your dog's own food so it stays on its usual routine. Because the owners live on the property, dogs are not shut in at closing time. They go on walks and runs through the fields, use a wooded hiking area, play areas with agility courses and, when the weather allows, baby pools, and a covered area in bad weather. Sheep, a horse, a donkey, chickens and a duck share the property. Cats are kept apart from the dogs in their own space.
Training, Transportation and Camping
Kennel supervisor and trainer Brian Payne, a retired K9 officer, handles off-leash recall training packages and works with dogs of all sizes and temperaments. Edelweiss Estates offers pick-up and drop-off over a wide radius and travels regularly along I-68 and I-70. Primitive camp sites without water or utilities are available, and staff can watch your animal by day while you head out. The owners also plan long-term care arrangements for pets whose owners can no longer keep them.
