About

Elite Appalachian Development is an athletic training facility in Oakland focused on developing well-rounded youth athletes, with adult fitness memberships too. It is part of Deep Creek Fitness, sharing the gym behind Simon Pearce. It's at 265 Glass Dr: enter at the Simon Pearce entrance, take the first left, continue behind the main building and look for the entrance in the back corner next to a garage door.

Training for Young Athletes

Coach Logan Stewart started the business in spring 2020 after coaching at Coastal Carolina University. He played four years of football at Frostburg State and interned with college programs including the University of South Carolina. His approach favours playing several sports year-round over early specialization, and sessions are designed to build athleticism and lower injury risk. Programs include:

  • High school and 8th-grade lifting, split into male and female groups, covering strength, speed, agility, mobility and power
  • Middle school workouts based on a long-term athletic development model
  • Volleyball clinics for high school and youth players, plus baseball and softball sessions
  • Four-week team packages with testing (vertical jump, broad jump, 10-yard sprint, pro agility, strength) for youth through collegiate teams
  • The Garrett Highlanders, a Hot Stove baseball team, with softball, soccer and volleyball teams in development

Batting Cage and Adult Memberships

A batting cage and tee stations are available to rent year-round for hitting sessions. Adults can join small-group workouts led by a fitness instructor, with nutrition guidance and accountability check-ins available through full, workout-only or online memberships.
