Firewater Kitchen & Bar

Firewater Kitchen & Bar is a lakefront restaurant and bar on the shore of Deep Creek Lake at 20128 Garrett Highway in Oakland. It pairs made-to-order food with craft cocktails and beer in a rustic room of natural wood and stone, with fireplaces and wide views of the water, and it works for families and food lovers alike.

What's on the Menu

The kitchen cooks to order and sources locally where it can. The menu is built around shareable plates, salads, entrees, handhelds and sides:

• Sharables: Poke Nachos, Street Corn Dip, Fried Green Tomatoes, Black Garlic Wings, Wagyu Dumplings, Lamb Chop Lollipops and Crab Hush Puppies
• Entrees: Steak Frites, Honey Soy Salmon, Bourbon-glazed Chicken Thighs, Pan-Seared Scallops, Shrimp & Grits and Crab-Stuffed Salmon
• Handhelds: the Firewater Burger, an Impossible Burger, a Blackened Salmon BLT and a Pastrami Sandwich

If you eat gluten-free, most sides qualify, and handhelds can come on a gluten-free bun or in a lettuce wrap. At the bar you'll find a custom cocktail menu, craft beers and a separate spirits and flights list.

On the Water

In season (May through October) you can arrive by boat. The lakefront patio is open from early spring into late fall, weather permitting, with heated pavers, a 32-foot outdoor fireplace and a bandstand. Out on the water, The Dock at Firewater serves shareable small plates, with reserved seating sessions in the evening and first-come walk-ins during the day.

Music, Events and the Family Behind It

The summer music series brings local musicians to the patio from May through September, and Tiki Night returns monthly in summer with tiki cocktails and Polynesian-inspired specials. Firewater is family owned by Brenda McDonnell, whose local restaurants also include Ace's Run, Brenda's Pizzeria and Trader's Coffee House.
