Fitzwater Furniture

Fitzwater Furniture is a family business that has been furnishing Garrett County homes since 1947. Its showroom sits in a large two-story stone-and-glass building at 1947 Maryland Highway (Route 135), about two miles east of Oakland and roughly ten minutes from Deep Creek Lake, and it serves both year-round residents and vacation homeowners.

What's in the Showroom

The store has more than 20,000 square feet of showroom space backed by a large support warehouse, with over 2,000 items kept in stock. You'll find furniture for every room, in country, rustic, traditional, casual and contemporary styles:

• Living room: sofas, sectionals, recliners and chaises
• Dining room: tables, bar stools and china cabinets
• Bedroom: beds, dressers, kids' furniture and bedding
• Lighting, area rugs, wall art and accessories

Brands on the floor include Old Hickory, Liberty Furniture, Riverside, Southern Motion, Kingsdown, Hickory Craft, Mayo, Uttermost, FEISS, Surya and Oriental Weavers. Rugs can be taken home from the showroom selection or ordered from the displays.

Help With Furnishing a Home

Because so much is kept in stock, many pieces can go out for delivery right away, which is handy if you're setting up a lake house before the season. The regular delivery area covers Western Maryland and eastern West Virginia, and the staff can also arrange delivery farther afield, including the Baltimore and Washington areas, Northern Virginia and western Pennsylvania. Special orders are available too, and the store works with several area designers if you'd like help pulling a room together. Financing is offered through Snap Finance.

Finding the Store

Coming from Oakland, follow Route 135 east; the store is on the left about half a mile past the second traffic light, just before Mountain Lake Park.

Stop in and walk the showroom floors to see the pieces in person before you buy.
