Flipside Sounds

Flipside Sounds is an independent record store at 121 S. Second Street in downtown Oakland. It stocks new and vintage vinyl across all genres, along with turntables, instrument accessories and music memorabilia. Whether you're starting a collection or hunting for a specific pressing, it's a good place to flip through the crates.

Records, Turntables and More

The shop carries thousands of vinyl titles, from classic catalog albums to current releases and rare finds, and if a record you want isn't in stock, the store can get it for you. If you need something to play them on, there are turntables in several styles, including Bluetooth and soundbar models. Musicians can pick up instrument accessories, and the walls hold rock and concert posters and signed memorabilia. Flipside-branded T-shirts and merch are sold in the shop and online.

The full vinyl collection is listed in an online shop on the store's website, so you can browse before you visit. Part of Downtown Oakland

Flipside Sounds is next door to The Green Room Lounge at 119 S. Second Street, and the two have teamed up for vinyl listening nights that play a band's catalog start to finish. During Oakland's Autumn Glory Festival, the store adds bonus hours and brings out crates of vinyl, with live music at The Green Room Lounge.
