Garrett County Board of Elections

The Garrett County Board of Elections is the county office that runs local elections and keeps the voter rolls for Garrett County. You'll find it in Suite 1 of the county office building at 2008 Maryland Highway in Mountain Lake Park, and it's the place to go with any question about registering, voting by mail or finding where you vote.

Help for Voters

The office maintains voter registration and helps residents with:

• Registering to vote or updating a registration
• Mail-in ballots, which any registered Maryland voter can use once they've applied
• Early voting, held at early vote centers in the county (recent elections have used the Oakland Community Center and the Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department hall)
• Finding your polling place and election precinct
• Information for military and overseas voters

Election results and voter registration counts are posted on the Board's website after each election.

Get Involved

The Board needs election judges throughout the county for every election. You can download the election judge application from its website and return it by mail, fax or email. If you're thinking about running for local office, the office also handles candidate information and filing.

The Board meets monthly in its office conference room, and those meetings are open to the public and live-streamed; ballot canvasses and post-election audits also take place there.

Whether you've just moved to the mountain or simply want to check your registration before the next election, a quick call to the office will get you sorted.
