The Garrett County Fairgrounds at 270 Mosser Road in McHenry is home to the annual Garrett County Agriculture Fair and a rentable venue for events throughout the year. The grounds are run by Garrett County Agriculture Fair, Inc., and the fair itself is an exhibition for the local agriculture community and a showcase for makers, gardeners, photographers and other local talents.
The Agriculture Fair
The fair has run for 69 years. Fair week brings exhibitor entries, a Farm Queen program, livestock shows and a livestock sale, which the fair has also streamed live on its YouTube channel. The website posts the admission details, the premium book for exhibitors, the schedule of events and a map of the fairgrounds.
Renting the Grounds
Outside fair week the fairgrounds are available for weddings, company parties, festivals, picnics and other gatherings. Three areas can be booked: the Ag Heritage Hall, the track area, and the fairgrounds and barn areas. The Ag Heritage Hall is a large indoor space with a built-in sound system, round and rectangular tables, chairs and Wi-Fi throughout, and a full commercial kitchen can be added. Bookings start with the rental application on the website, and questions can go to the rentals email address.
Events Through the Year
The fair's online calendar lists what else is happening on the grounds, from the Festival of Trees holiday kick-off with decorated trees, wreaths, kid crafts and visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, to 4-H Achievement Day, banquets, community events and election-day voting in the Ag Heritage Hall.
