Garrett Surgical Group is a general surgery practice at 255 N 4th St, Suite 2 in Oakland, beside Garrett Regional Medical Center. Since 2023 it has been part of WVU Medicine Garrett Regional Medical Center (GRMC), and it serves patients referred for surgical care in Garrett County.
General Surgery Close to Home
The group performs general surgery of all types at GRMC, including endoscopic, laparoscopic and gynecological procedures. Laparoscopic and endoscopic approaches use small incisions or scopes, and having them available locally means many patients can have surgery and follow-up in Oakland rather than travelling out of the county.
A Practice With Local Roots
The practice is led by Charles Walch, MD, a board-certified general surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons who has practised in Oakland since 1995. In May 2023 he and Garrett Surgical Group joined GRMC as employed physicians, and the practice became part of the WVU Health System's preferred provider network.
