Glade View Church of the Brethren

Glade View Church of the Brethren is a small country church in the Redhouse community south of Oakland, the crossroads where U.S. Route 50 meets U.S. Route 219 near the West Virginia line. It is a congregation in the Church of the Brethren tradition, gathering for Sunday worship and fellowship with its rural neighbours.

A Redhouse Landmark

The church appears on U.S. Geological Survey maps of the Table Rock quadrangle, sitting at about 2,500 feet in a small cluster of community landmarks that includes Red House Cemetery, Red House Elementary School and Saint Johns Lutheran Church. The Church of the Brethren is an Anabaptist and Pietist denomination that began in Germany in 1708, known for its emphasis on simple living, service and peacemaking.
