Gregg's Pharmacy

Gregg's Pharmacy is a family-owned independent pharmacy at 20 N. Third Street in downtown Oakland. Brothers Ernie and Jim Gregg founded it in 1961, and it still serves Garrett County with prescriptions, immunizations, medical supplies and everyday health products.

Three Generations in Oakland

Ernie and Jim Gregg grew up on a farm near Masontown, West Virginia, and both earned pharmacy degrees from West Virginia University. Ernie opened the Oakland store in 1961, while Jim opened a sister store in Terra Alta, WV, the same year; that location closed in 2022 after 61 years and its staff joined the Oakland team. Today Ernie's son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Carol Gregg, own and operate the pharmacy, and grandson Nick Gregg, PharmD, and his wife Ali Gregg, PharmD, are among its pharmacists.

The prescription department covers prescriptions, immunizations, multiple-medication packaging, medication therapy management and non-sterile compounding, along with over-the-counter medicines, vitamins and supplements. Beyond the counter you'll find:

More Than Prescriptions

The store also stocks greeting cards, essential oils, and LorAnn oils and candy-making supplies, which makes it a useful stop for home bakers and candy makers in town. A loyalty program is available for regular customers.
