About
GRMC Regional Behavioral Health Center is the outpatient mental and behavioral health practice of Garrett Regional Medical Center, part of WVU Medicine. It works from GRMC's Health & Wellness Center at 69 Wolf Acres Drive in Oakland, and offers therapy, psychiatric medication management and substance use treatment for people in Garrett County and the surrounding region.
Services Offered
The hospital describes the center's care as office-based and outpatient, grouped into three areas:
- Therapy: individual psychotherapy, group therapy and family-based counseling
- Psychiatric medication management: provided by a psychiatrist and a mental health nurse practitioner
- Substance use disorder care: substance use counseling, and medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder, which requires counseling alongside it
Having therapy, medication management and recovery support under one roof means you can be seen by a team that coordinates with each other, rather than piecing care together across separate offices.
A Renovated Home on Wolf Acres Drive
The Wolf Acres building was renovated and expanded with support from a behavioral health campaign raised by the GRMC Foundation. The project moved walls to cut down on interruptions during sessions and created a room large enough for therapy groups and community meetings. Garrett Regional Medical Center marked the reopening with a ribbon cutting on January 24, 2025.
