Habitat Home Store

Habitat Home Store is the nonprofit home improvement store and donation center of Garrett County Habitat for Humanity, at 5411 Hutton Road in Oakland. It sells new and gently used furniture, housewares, home accessories, appliances and building materials at a fraction of retail price, and it is open to everyone, whether you are furnishing a lake cabin or tackling a renovation.

What You'll Find

Like other Habitat ReStores, the Home Store stocks donated, overstocked, discontinued, new and used goods. Typical finds include:

• Furniture and home decor
• Kitchen and household items
• Appliances
• Cabinets, windows, plumbing fixtures and other building materials

Inventory changes as donations come in, and the store posts current items on its own Facebook page, so it is worth checking before you make the trip.

Where Your Money Goes

Proceeds help Garrett County Habitat for Humanity build homes for low-income families in the county. The store is staffed entirely by volunteers who handle customer service, donation pickups and furniture repair. Volunteers aged 16 and up can earn Service Learning hours, and the store also welcomes people completing community service hours.

Donating Items

The store accepts building materials, appliances, furniture, cabinets, windows, plumbing and other home goods. For large items, call the store to schedule a pickup. Note that the store does not deliver purchases, so bring a vehicle that fits what you plan to buy.

A visit is a good way to save on home projects while helping a neighbour into a home of their own.
