Hawks Flight Studio is the nature photography studio of Caroline Blizzard, based at 2107 Swallow Falls Road, Oakland, MD 21550. Her work centres on birds and wildlife, with photo collections from Alaska, the Galápagos and the winter monarch butterfly migration in Mexico, and prints are offered through the studio's online shop.
Birds, Butterflies and Faraway Places
The studio's tagline is "For the Love of Birds," and Caroline describes herself as someone who loves photographing, counting and chasing rare birds. As a naturalist, she calls the Galápagos the place she most wanted to visit, and her Alaska series documents another bucket-list trip in nature and photography. The monarch collection follows the butterflies to their overwintering grounds high in the Oyamel fir forests of Mexico.
Visiting the Studio
The studio was long housed in the Four Storm Artists Gallery, a family-run artist co-op on Swallow Falls Road. The gallery closed in October 2023 after 15 years, and its closing notice said that Hawks Flight Studio would carry on, with Caroline's work shown at local festivals, the Gallery Shop Oakland and other art venues. Her own site lists the studio as open by appointment at the Swallow Falls Road address.
