Heidi's Bakery & Cafe

Heidi's Bakery & Cafe is a family-run bakery and cafe on a working farm at 2249 Blue Ribbon Road in the countryside outside Oakland. Run by a Mennonite family, it bakes breads, cakes and pastries from scratch and serves a full homemade breakfast and lunch menu, with seating indoors and out.

From the Bakery Case

The display case is filled with cupcakes, pastries, breads and cookies made from scratch, and the cinnamon rolls, pies and breads are baked fresh daily. Cupcake flavors change every week, with past rounds including vanilla, chocolate, chai latte and maple bacon. Homemade sourdough is a regular, and layer cakes such as chocolate peanut butter, carrot and pig pickin' cake show up too, so it's worth a look if you need a dessert for a family gathering.

Breakfast and Lunch

Breakfast is served all day, from big buttermilk pancakes to breakfast sandwiches. At lunch you'll find a strawberry grilled chicken pecan salad, a crispy chicken wrap, a chicken sandwich and the Farmer's Platter, with sweet potato or seasoned fries on the side, and salads use local produce.

A Farm Setting

Because the cafe sits on a working farm, there are animals on the property that visitors have been able to meet and pet, which makes it an easy stop with kids. The outdoor seating looks out over the surrounding farmland.

Plan to come hungry and leave room in the car for a box of pastries to take home.
