It's the storefront for Mullenax Bakery, which owner Marissa Mullenax started as a home bakery, and it's the place to go for custom cakes as well as candy, specialty drinks and small gifts.

Made-to-order baking is the heart of the business. Mullenax Bakery makes custom cakes, cupcakes and cookies, so if you're planning a birthday, shower or other celebration, this is a good first call. Alongside the custom work, the shop keeps a rotating selection of sweet treats on hand for anyone who just wants something sweet today.

Dirty Sodas, Lemonades and Candy

Hey Sugar also mixes specialty drinks, including dirty sodas and flavored lemonades, and stocks candy and gift merchandise, which makes it an easy stop for a treat after school or a small present on the way to a party.

From Home Kitchen to Third Street

The move from a home bakery to a storefront was celebrated in 2026 with a ribbon cutting hosted by Garrett County Business Development, with a county commissioner, Oakland's mayor and Chamber and Greater Oakland Business Association leaders on hand.
