High Mountain Sports Rental

High Mountain Sports Rental is the winter rental shop of High Mountain Sports at 7725 Sang Run Road in McHenry, behind the Exxon on the way to Wisp Resort, set up to outfit skiers and snowboarders heading out for a day in the Deep Creek Lake area. It is the McHenry companion to the company's main store on Garrett Highway in Oakland.

The Sang Run Road shop rents downhill and cross-country ski equipment and snowboards on a first-come, first-served basis. That range is useful if your group is split between the lifts and the quieter trails, since everyone can be fitted in one stop. High Mountain Sports also lists tuning equipment and tune-ups for skis and snowboards among its services.

High Mountain Sports is a four-season sporting goods retailer that has been serving Deep Creek visitors and locals since 1987. Its main store at 21327 Garrett Highway in Oakland sells snow sports gear, bikes and e-bikes, paddle sports equipment, clothing and footwear from a long list of outdoor brands. In summer, the company's rentals turn to kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, bikes, tubes and dock slips, along with guided pontoon boat tours on Deep Creek Lake. It also holds an annual Ski and Snowboard Swap, which is a good place to look for used gear.
