Lake Life Boat Rentals

Lake Life Boat Rentals has rented ski boats and pontoons on Deep Creek Lake since 2004 from 1899 Deep Creek Dr in McHenry, directly across from the Deep Creek Lake Volunteer Fire Department. It suits vacationing families and groups looking for anything from a slow pontoon cruise to a day of skiing and wakeboarding.

The Fleet

The company says it updates its boats every two to three years, and lists Sea Ray, Harris and Tahoe among its brands.

• Ski boats: 19′ SPX, 19′ SPX with tower, 21′ SPX with tower, and a larger Watersports Boat for up to 14 people
• Pontoons from 90 HP up to 300 HP, including a 250 HP double-decker with a waterslide that is listed as ADA accessible
• Water skis, wakeboards, kneeboards and single or double tubes; ski vests and a tow rope come with tow-sport rentals

Licensing and Safety

Maryland requires boat operators born after July 1, 1972 to hold a boater safety certificate. Lake Life can help you get a free temporary certificate, good for ten days: watch the online safety videos and pass the 24-question test with at least 22 correct. Each person can receive two in a lifetime, after which you'll need the Maryland DNR online course. Every boat carries life jackets for everyone aboard (required at all times for children under 14), a paddle, a whistle or horn, a fire extinguisher and a float cushion. At pickup you'll watch a training video, get an emailed video inspection of the boat's condition, and staff will point out the red-and-white buoys marking danger zones, including a sandbar behind the rental docks.

Before You Go

Fuel isn't included: refuel at Lake Life's gas dock on the right side of the cove, about a mile before the rental department, by the Deep Creek Marina Club parking garage and sign. A refundable security deposit is taken on every rental, boats must be off the lake by dusk, and multi-day renters dock at their own rental property, since Lake Life has no public docking.

Book online and finish the safety test before you arrive, and you'll get out on the water sooner.
