About
Lake Pointe Inn is an adults-only bed and breakfast on the shore of Deep Creek Lake at 174 Lake Pointe Dr in McHenry, across the street from Wisp Resort. Its Arts & Crafts-style rooms, cooked breakfast and lake activities make it a fit for couples and grown-up getaways in any season.
A Farmhouse With Two Centuries of History
The land was the summer estate of Dr. James McHenry from 1808, and the present house was built between 1889 and 1891 by Jonas Glotfelty as his family's farmhouse. In 1939 Pittsburgh hotel owner Sam Leff added electricity, plumbing and central heat, along with the great room, stone fireplace and stone well house. George and Linda Pettie converted the house into an inn, opening in January 1996, and later additions expanded it. Innkeepers Scott Lack and Lenina Close have owned the inn since October 2016, and it is a member of Select Registry.
Rooms and Breakfast
The inn lists a dozen rooms and suites, each named for local history, from the McCann Suite and Sam Leff Room to the Glotfelty and Sang Run rooms. Every room has a king bed, a private bath with tub and shower, and a gas fireplace, with Mission-style furniture and William Morris fabrics. Some rooms add a private balcony, a spa tub or a steam shower. A multi-course breakfast prepared by Chef Scott is included with every stay, with gluten-free, vegan, light and hearty options.
