About
Lazy Bear Lodge is a 5-bedroom, 3.5-bath custom-built cabin on three private wooded acres near Oakland, set in a hemlock and boulder forest about two miles from Deep Creek Lake. The owners take bookings directly for up to 13 guests (no more than 8 adults without owner approval), which suits families or a couple of households sharing a mountain getaway.
Inside the House
The roughly 3,200-square-foot home spreads across three finished levels:
- Main level: great room with a wood-burning fireplace, a gourmet kitchen with granite counters and a coffee station, the dining area, a primary bedroom with deck access, and a half bath.
- Upper level: two queen bedrooms with rustic log beds sharing a full bath.
- Lower level: a second living area with its own wood-burning fireplace, a game room with pool table, air hockey and Xbox, a queen room, a bunk room, and a full bath with heated tile floors.
Every bedroom has a TV and blackout curtains, and the house has fast Wi-Fi and indoor and outdoor Sonos speakers.
Outdoor Spaces
A wraparound deck holds the private hot tub beside a covered stone wood-burning fireplace, plus lounging and outdoor dining areas facing the forest. The lower level walks out to a boulder-lined fire pit, swings and a grassy play area, and in snowy weather there is a private sledding hill with sleds and tubes provided. Firewood is included.
Good to Know
- Guests get a CARC membership, with access to the indoor pools and fitness area at the Community Aquatic Recreation Center, plus two Maryland State Park vehicle passes.
- The owners list Swallow Falls State Park about two miles away and Wisp about six miles away.
- No pets, smoking or parties; AWD or 4WD with good snow tires is recommended in winter.
