About
The Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA) is a statewide nonprofit organization of economic development professionals. Its members work throughout Maryland, including for local governments, businesses and chambers of commerce, and share the goal of improving the state's business climate.
What MEDA Does
MEDA was established in 1961. Its stated mission is to build the knowledge and skills of its members, encourage partnerships and networking among people working to bring jobs and capital to Maryland, and promote economic development as an investment in the state. Through regular meetings, special programs and projects, members take on issues such as local planning, workforce, transportation, international trade, tourism and finance.
Conferences and Networking
MEDA holds an annual conference and a winter conference that looks ahead to the legislative session. MEDA Young Leaders is a group for economic developers under 40 who want to collaborate and network, with virtual networking sessions. The association also publishes a year-in-review report and a directory of economic development offices across Maryland.
Membership and Contact
Membership is open to economic development practitioners and other professionals with an interest in Maryland's economy, and organizations can sponsor events year-round. MEDA's mailing address is a post office box in Havre de Grace.
