Mill Creek & Company

Mill Creek & Company is a custom home builder and remodeling company based at 22491 Garrett Hwy in McHenry, working on homes around Deep Creek Lake and across Garrett County. It is a good first call if you are planning a new lake house, a timber frame home, an addition, or a kitchen or bath overhaul.

What They Build

The company handles projects from design through finished construction, managing the details along the way. Its published services include:

• Custom home building
• Timber frame homes built with the Timberbuilt system
• Home remodeling and additions
• Kitchen and bathroom remodels
• Swimming pools, spas and outdoor living areas as an installer of San Juan Pools

For timber frame homes, the team handles design, engineering and the timber work, then installs the frame together with structural insulated (SIP) wall and roof panels. The Timberbuilt approach sets the timbers directly into the SIPs, which removes the need for posts in every corner and gives more freedom in the floor plan. Interior timbers are offered in eastern white pine or Douglas fir, and exterior timbers in western red cedar or Douglas fir, with Douglas fir often chosen where heavy snow loads and longer spans call for extra strength.

A Family Business With Garrett County Roots

Mill Creek & Company is run by husband-and-wife team Chad and Leslie Montgomery. Chad, who was born and raised in Garrett County, leads estimating, and Leslie leads design. Both grew up in construction families; Chad's father, Jeff, started the building trades program at Northern High School, where students built a modular home each school year. The company publishes that it is licensed as both a Maryland home improvement contractor and a new home builder.
