About
Mountaintop Seventh-day Adventist Church is a Seventh-day Adventist congregation at 16335 Garrett Highway (Route 219) in Oakland. It welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds, whether you're exploring faith, returning after time away or looking for a church home in Garrett County.
A Sabbath Morning Together
Like all Adventist churches, Mountaintop worships on the Sabbath, Saturday. The morning starts with Sabbath School, Bible study classes for adults, youth and children, followed by a worship service of about an hour that blends traditional hymns with contemporary praise songs and a message from the pastor. Greeters hand out the weekly bulletin and help you find the right class, and you may hear the traditional greeting "Happy Sabbath." Most people dress business casual, but there's no dress code, so come as you're comfortable. You're welcome to stay for the whole morning or attend worship only.
Fellowship and Ministries
After worship each Sabbath the congregation shares a fellowship meal, and visitors are invited as guests with no need to bring a dish; many of the dishes are vegetarian. The church lists music, health, community services, men's and women's ministries, and it takes prayer requests through a form on its website. Sermons are posted online, and the church is also on Facebook, YouTube and WhatsApp.
What the Church Believes
Members describe themselves as Bible-believing Christians who follow Jesus, keep the Sabbath and share the hope of Christ's return; the church points visitors to the denomination's 28 Fundamental Beliefs. Pastor Jose Espinoza leads the congregation alongside a church board and ministry leaders.
If you have questions before your first visit, the church team is glad to hear from you by phone or through the website.
