About
Nearly New Shop is a volunteer-staffed thrift shop at 126 East Liberty Street in downtown Oakland, run by the Episcopal Church in Garrett County. It has been selling good-quality, reasonably priced secondhand goods to local residents and visitors since the 1950s.
What's on the Shelves
The shop carries gently used goods for the whole household:
- Clothing for children, women and men
- Kitchen items
- Home decor
- Bed and table linens
- Toys and books
It also accepts clothing vouchers for purchases, which makes it a practical resource for families who need basics as well as for bargain hunters.
A Church Ministry
Nearly New Shop is a ministry of the Episcopal Church in Garrett County, the joint ministry of St. Matthew's and St. John's Episcopal churches. Volunteers staff the counter, and the money the shop raises supports the church's community outreach in the county, so your purchase does double duty.
Donating
The shop welcomes clothing, housewares, toys and books in very good condition. Bring donations in while the shop is open rather than leaving them by the front door, where weather can ruin them.
If you're in downtown Oakland with a little time to browse, it's a friendly place to look for a useful find.
