Newman Funeral Home began in 1955, when it bought the Winterberg Funeral Home on Main Street in Grantsville. It added a Friendsville location in 1960, a home on Garrett Highway in Accident in 1985 and a Salisbury, PA, location in 1990. The firm came to Oakland in 2008 with a location on Second Street, and in 2013 it completed the current building on Memorial Drive, about 17,000 square feet in all.
