About
NextEra Energy Transmission MidAtlantic, Inc. is a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Transmission, LLC, based in Juno Beach, Florida, and is developing the proposed MidAtlantic Resiliency Link, an electric transmission project in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland and Virginia.
According to the project site, NextEra Energy Transmission subsidiaries were selected by the regional grid operator to develop the line as part of a portfolio of transmission solutions for the region's reliability needs. The proposed project would build a new 500-kV transmission line of about 107.5 miles, running from a substation in Dunkard Township, Pennsylvania, near the West Virginia border, to a connection point near Gore, Virginia. The line is designed to carry power in both directions. The project also includes a new 500/138-kV substation in Frederick County, Virginia, and interconnections to existing substations on the Maryland and Pennsylvania sides of the West Virginia border.
The project team has filed Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity applications with the state utility commissions in West Virginia, Maryland and Virginia, and siting applications in Pennsylvania. The company says it intends to keep an ongoing dialogue with communities and stakeholders along the route, and it sends newsletters with project updates. Project questions go to MARL@nexteraenergy.com or the project phone line.
