About Freemasonry
Freemasonry is an international fraternal organization. Members meet in lodges to take part in ritual degrees, look after one another and support charitable work in their communities. Lodge meetings themselves are for members, but men interested in joining are generally encouraged to ask a member or contact the lodge, since Masons traditionally wait to be asked rather than recruit.
The Lodge in Oakland
Oakland Lodge No. 192 holds regular stated communications, the formal business meetings of the lodge, twice each month at its hall on South First Street in the middle of town. Masonic directories list it as the Masonic lodge for the Oakland area of Garrett County.
