Polska Polish Pottery of Deep Creek Lake is a Polish family-owned shop in Suite 4 of Dry Dock Plaza at 19509 Garrett Highway near Deep Creek Lake. It carries handcrafted stoneware from Boleslawiec, Poland, from everyday dinnerware and bakeware to serving pieces, home décor and Polish gifts. It's a good stop if you collect Polish pottery or want a durable, hand-painted piece for your kitchen or a gift.

A Family With Roots in Lublin

The family behind the shop is originally from Lublin, Poland, and moved to the United States in the 1970s. They still speak Polish, keep close ties with relatives in Poland, and have been importing Polish pottery and gifts for more than 40 years. They also exhibit each year at the Polish American Festival at the American Czestochowa Church. The Deep Creek Lake store, owned by Arek Blazejewski, celebrated its ribbon cutting with the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce in May 2024. Sister stores operate at the King of Prussia Mall and Wilkes-Barre in Pennsylvania.

What You'll Find on the Shelves

The stoneware is made from white clay and fired at high temperatures, with a lead-free glaze, and it's safe for the microwave, oven, freezer and dishwasher, so it's made to be used, not just displayed. Patterns fall into two families:

• Traditional patterns, a centuries-old style with royal blue backgrounds and peacock-eye circles
• Unikat pieces, modern designs hand-painted with a fine brush and signed by the artist, so each one is one of a kind

Shelves cover dinnerware, bakeware, serveware, coffee and tea pieces, and home décor such as vases, pitchers, candlesticks, trinket boxes, soap dispensers, pie birds and pet bowls, along with seasonal items like hand-painted Christmas ornaments and Easter linens. The family business also sells online and ships, and offers gift certificates and registries.
