The Railey name goes back to the early days of Deep Creek Lake: the family ran Railey Cottages, the area's first commercial cottage rental company, and a tavern near the new lake. Two generations later, Sis and Jim Railey earned their real estate licenses, worked for three years at another local brokerage, then founded Railey Realty Corporation in 1974, working at first from their own living room. The company opened an office on Route 219 in 1984 and moved into its current home on Vacation Way in 1997.
