Rigidply Rafters

Rigidply Rafters is a family-owned manufacturer of roof and floor trusses, glulam beams and post-frame building materials, with one of its two plants at 1283 Joni Miller Rd in Oakland. Its Oakland location has served Western Maryland since 1971, supplying builders, contractors and property owners with engineered framing for homes, garages, barns and pavilions.

Trusses, Glulam and Building Packages

Rigidply started in 1954 in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, making glue-laminated arches, and added metal-plate-connected wood roof trusses in 1963. Today the company designs and builds:

• Roof and floor trusses, designed to each project
• Glulam posts, beams, arches, timber trusses, bridges and pavilion packages
• Engineered wood-frame building packages that come with construction plans and a materials list

Because trusses and glulam members are engineered for a specific span and load, having them designed and built nearby can simplify planning on a mountain build, where snow loads and steep sites matter.

More Than Framing

The company also sells the materials that finish a post-frame or wood-frame building: metal roofing and shingles, metal and wood siding, entry and sliding doors, windows, ridge and soffit vents, cupolas, tongue-and-groove decking milled in-house, treated and dimensional lumber, plywood and OSB, I-joists and LVL, insulation, hardware and equine stall products. Rigidply also offers crane delivery and truss setting.
