Sand Flat Engineering is a licensed and insured engineering firm with an office at 685 Mosser Road, Suite 124 in McHenry, close to Deep Creek Lake. It provides civil, municipal and industrial engineering in Maryland and Virginia, and supports projects from first concept through construction.

Sand Flat Engineering handles project management alongside design, with the goal of keeping projects on schedule, within budget and actually built. It has worked under both design-bid-build and design-build delivery, which helps when you are not yet sure how your project will be contracted.

Led by a Hands-On Engineer

The firm is led by Daniel W. Tichinel, PE, who brings more than 30 years of construction and engineering experience across civil, municipal, industrial, commercial and residential projects. His interest in engineering started young, working alongside family on construction and mechanical projects, and he earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Bucknell University. That mix of jobsite and design background is the point of the firm: insight into how a project actually moves from drawings to construction.
