About
Shamrock Sporting Clays and its clubhouse, Shamrock Whiskey & Cigar Bar, share a former farm at 624 Humbert School Road in Rockwood, Pennsylvania, in the Laurel Highlands of Somerset County. It pairs an outdoor shotgun course with a restaurant and bar in a remodeled barn, and it welcomes the general public as well as members and corporate groups.
The Sporting Clays Course
The course has 15 stations along a mile-long paved path through the countryside, with four sizes of clays and more than 30 MEC target throwers set up for shooters of every level. Guests ride between stations in four-seat carts with room for firearms and gear. A fully enclosed, two-tiered 5-stand house is there for warming up, and gun rentals and instruction are offered. Memberships and corporate events are available.
Whiskey & Cigar Bar
Upstairs in the barn, the Whiskey & Cigar Bar serves chef-prepared steak and seafood from an open-concept kitchen, with beef from the family's own Banshee Farms, alongside wines and spirits, crafted cocktails and premium cigars.
Farm and Coal History
The Shamrock name comes from the coal mines that worked the property at the turn of the century. The original silo was kept during the barn remodel, and its lower half now serves as a secure gun vault. The proprietor is Angela Svonavec.
