Sharp Shooters

Sharp Shooters is a licensed gun store at 40 Independence Ln in Oakland, serving Garrett County shooters and hunters. It has a walk-in retail counter for firearm sales, handles FFL transfers and offers gunsmithing, so it covers most of what you need between buying a firearm and keeping it running.

Sales, Transfers and Gunsmithing

Sharp Shooters holds a Type 01 federal firearms licence (dealer, including gunsmithing). Beyond the guns on its own shelves, the shop accepts transfers, including from private sellers. That's useful if you've bought a firearm online or from another individual: the gun is shipped to or brought to the shop, and the transfer and background check are completed at the counter.

The gunsmithing side means you can bring in a firearm that needs repair, cleaning or adjustment instead of shipping it away.

Wear & Carry Classes

The shop also hosts Maryland Wear & Carry permit classes, the training Maryland requires before applying for a handgun carry permit. Dates vary, so check the website for upcoming classes.

The store has no shooting range on site. Give them a call or check the website before you visit if you're after a particular firearm or want to arrange a transfer.
