Short Story Brewing at Deep Creek Lake

Short Story Brewing at Deep Creek Lake is the Maryland taproom of Short Story Brewing, a family-owned craft brewery from Rivesville, West Virginia. It's at 1550 Deep Creek Dr in McHenry, and it's a relaxed place to meet friends after a day on the lake or the slopes, or fill a growler to take back to the cabin.

A Brewery With West Virginia Roots

Short Story was founded in 2017 with a brewery and taproom in its hometown of Rivesville and now runs taprooms in Rivesville, Morgantown and Charleston, West Virginia, as well as here at Deep Creek Lake. The McHenry taproom opened on January 3, 2020. The brewers focus on quality, consistency and experimentation, and the signature beer is Chasing Daylight IPA.

What's on Tap

The Deep Creek tap list is grouped into malt-forward, hoppy and sour beers, and the lineup rotates. A recent list included:

• Malt: a Red Ale, a German Kölsch, a Lemon Wheat and Argonaut, a Helles lager
• Hops: Chasing Daylight IPA, Room to Roam hazy IPA and Two for the Show hazy double IPA
• Sour: Fun with Prisms, a fruited kettle sour

Beyond beer, the taproom pours spiked seltzers and a red and a rosé wine, with soda and water for non-drinkers. Growler fills are available for the beers.
