About
St. John's Lutheran Church – Meadow Mountain is a small rural congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) at 5214 Bittinger Rd, in the Meadow Mountain area between Swanton and Bittinger. It belongs to the West Virginia–Western Maryland Synod, which lists it as Saint John of Meadow Mountain, and it gathers neighbours for Sunday worship.
A Country Church in the Synod
St. John's is one of several small Lutheran congregations in northern Garrett County. In the synod's 2025 congregation list it appears in the same group as Emmanuel Lutheran in Bittinger and Zion Lutheran, and the three share one published phone line. The congregation does not have a called pastor at present, and the synod lists its bishop as interim.
Before You Go
Because the church has no website of its own, the shared phone line is the easiest way to confirm whether Sunday worship is being held and who is leading it.
