Sweitzer's BBQ

Sweitzer's BBQ is a small barbecue restaurant in downtown Oakland, at 111 N 3rd St. It smokes its meats right on site and serves them for sit-down meals and groups, so it's a handy stop when you're in town and hungry for barbecue.

What's on the Smoker

The kitchen centers on classic smoked meats: ribs, brisket and pulled pork, with the pulled pork also served as a sandwich. Guests have described traditional barbecue sides alongside them, including baked beans, mac and cheese and potato salad. Guests have also described the smoker running out in the parking lot, which means popular meats can sell out later in the day.

A Familiar Spot on North 3rd Street

Sweitzer's is at the same North 3rd Street address that was previously home to Rolling Racks BBQ, so locals may still know the building by that name. Guests have described a small indoor dining area plus outdoor picnic tables, and the restaurant has handled larger groups and catered meals such as a wedding rehearsal dinner.
