The Garrett Inn is a small, family-run inn at 17848 Garrett Hwy (US 219) in Oakland, tucked between two Maryland state parks a few minutes' drive from Deep Creek Lake. It's an independent, non-chain place to stay if you want easy access to the lake, Wisp Resort and Oakland.
Rooms and Amenities
The inn offers rustic Double Queen rooms, which sleep up to four on two pillow-top queen beds under country quilts, and a Two Bedroom Cottage that sleeps four with more privacy and living space. Rooms come with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a coffee maker, a mini fridge, a microwave and a TV. Outside there's an outdoor fireplace, a fire pit and a picnic area, parking is free, and the whole property is non-smoking.
Getting Around
Deep Creek Lake is about 4 minutes away by car and Deep Creek Lake State Park about 8 minutes, so it's a handy base for a day on the water. Mount Nebo Wildlife Management Area is close by for hiking and wildlife watching, and in winter Wisp Resort is the place for skiing and snowboarding. The Rowdy Rooster Bar and Grille is a short walk from the inn if you'd rather not drive to dinner.
Before You Go
Pets are welcome in designated pet-friendly rooms, up to two per room, for a nightly fee; let the inn know ahead so the right room is set aside. Service animals are always welcome. The front desk isn't staffed around the clock, so call ahead if you expect to arrive late in the evening.
